Philosophy
Mediation is a tool that allows people to maintain authority over unfortunate situations where a court may intervene. The ability to retain control over our lives is a healthy way of dealing with a stressful situation.
Research shows that when parties reach an agreement through mediation they are much happier with the end result, and more importantly, far more likely to adhere to the agreement. Creating ownership in the details of the settlement promotes respect from both parties. The ability in domestic mediation to determine the outcome that is in the best interest of your child is the most sought after parental control results in a conflict. Mediation places that kind of authority in the hands of the parents and out of the hands of a court. The Courts are a good place to achieve stunning wins and losses. Mediation is a good place to achieve peace and resolution to conflict in the least public, least risky and least expensive way.
We aim to empower both parties in any type of dispute without deteriorating relationships.
Certified Domestic Mediation
Domestic mediation is the attempt to resolve disputes for divorce, establishment of paternity, child custody or visitation, or child or spousal support. Carrying the Certificate of Domestic Mediation awarded by the State provides a "universal skill-set" for facilitative mediation. These competencies may be applied in workplaces and in other settings, such as judicial, divorce, commercial, environmental, and community mediation.
Civil Mediation
Civil mediation describes any type of the civil mediation process, rather than the domestic model. Civil mediation's objective is to reach a binding agreement on the day of, so parties must have the authority to settle. Civil mediation is used for all disputes apart from family disputes.
Juvenile Mediation
The Juvenile Mediation Program (Delinquency Cases) is an opportunity for victims and offenders to meet face to face in a safe, controlled environment. The program is based on the principle of 'Restorative Justice'. When we respond to crime in a restorative way, we consider everyone affected by the crime, including the victim, the community and the offender. The parties talk about the harm that was caused by the crime and work together to make a plan to make things as right as possible.
